There is a small but dedicated area for tent campers which we really appreciated. Even some heaters in the bathrooms that were a godsend last February. The facilities are new at the tent/RV sites so they're very nice. We loved the coyotes howling in the distance at night and all the barred owls that make a visit to the primitive camp sites. Colt Creek State Park: situated near a larger wildlife management area and being a very large park itself, Colt Creek has some great trails and a real sense of being somewhere remote. I figured I'd start off on the forum by sharing a few of the places that we've really enjoyed so far. It has really allowed me to connect with where I live for the first time through appreciating the diverse wildlife and ecosystems here in Central Florida. As New York transplant who misses the seasons and never really acclimated to a Floridian air-conditioned lifestyle, camping has been a balm for me. My wife and I are situated in Tampa Bay, and earlier this year, with a few close friends, we quickly discovered and fell in love with camping around the state parks. Hi all! Figured I'd introduce myself as a relatively new backpacker/camper living in Central Florida.
